Joseph L. Bull's research program is focused on biofluid mechanics and biotransport, and includes both fundamental and translational aspects. Some of the awards he has received include a NIH NRSA Fellowship (declined), Parker B. Francis Fellowship (2001), Whitaker Foundation early career award (2003), and the Department of Biomedical Engineering Outstanding Achievement Award (2007).  Dr. Bull currently serves on the editorial boards of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs Journal and Annals of Vascular Surgery.

Research interests.
My research program is focused on a variety of biomedical phenomena, and the underlying fundamental biofluid mechanics and biotransport.  This work primarily involves on the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems and related biomedical devices, and spans a wide range of length and time scales.  Primary research areas include gas embolotherapy, biological micro- and nano-fluidics, artificial lungs, liquid ventilation, and cardiovascular mechanics.  I will bring expertise on nanoscale flow and transport, and a commitment to student mentoring and teaching to M-NIMBS.
