Michele Gerber is the Director of Vaccine Development in M–NIMBS. She obtained her undergraduate degree in the Lyman Briggs program at MichiganStateUniversity, obtained her MD degree from the University of Michigan, performed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and performed a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Michigan. Since her fellowship she has held the position of Associate Director/Director of Rheumatology and Neurology in clinical research at Pfizer (Parke-Davis) and was a medical monitor at Statprobe. She has also received a Master's of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan. Currently she is a Clinical Assistant Professor holding a joint appointment in the Division of Allergy and Immunology and Division of Rheumatology. As the Director of Vaccine Development in M–NIMBS, she co-directs several nanoemulsion-based adjuvant vaccine development projects. Pathogens of interest are: Smallpox (Vaccinia), Hepatitis B, Influenza, HIV, Dengue as well as a combination vaccine against Anthrax, Botulinum toxin and Plague.
